High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) affects almost half of the U.S. adult population. Given enough time, this can damage the heart, blood vessels, and other parts of the body. With healthy lifestyle changes, this condition can be managed effectively for a better quality of life.
Effective approaches include adopting healthy eating habits, being physically active, and managing stress.

Research results from NCCIH suggest that certain foods, including cocoa, garlic, fish oil, flaxseed, green or black tea, and probiotics, may help reduce blood pressure. The evidence is still limited and research is ongoing. Keep in mind that, as with medicines, individual responses to different foods and dietary supplements.

Beyond food choices, when seeking to reduce stress levels, a variety of holistic approaches have been shown to help. These include massage therapy, acupuncture and essential oils.

Yoga, tai chi, and qigong are forms of physical movement that can reduce stress while increasing individual physical activity levels.

For help incorporating exercise and other healthy habits into your lifestyle, hypnotherapy is considered an effective approach.
