To grasp the depth of the statement "Love is life and life is love," we must first explore our individual truth about love. Love is a concept that has been defined in various ways — ranging from biblical interpretations to modern-day perspectives. For instance, Wikipedia describes love as "a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection, to the simplest pleasure." The dictionary also defines love as both a noun — an intense feeling of deep affection or a great interest or pleasure, and a verb— to feel deep affection for someone or to greatly enjoy something.
For me, love is more than just an emotion or feeling; it is the energy, force, or frequency that created all that is. I call it Intelligent Love, a concept I learned from Dr. Joe Dispenza, a researcher, lecturer, and New York Times best-selling author known for his work on the mind-body connection and the impact of meditation on health and well-being. In my eyes, love is the Creator or what many call God.
Discovering Your Truth About love
The first step on the journey toward experiencing love in your life is discovering your truth about it. How do you define love? Can you delve deeper to uncover a richer, fuller meaning of love and how it manifests in your life? Many of us initially define love through our connections with others, by looking outside themselves, associating it with their partner, children, and family. While these relationships certainly represent beautiful aspects of love, it is only one aspect. The love we feel for those close to us often stems from emotional places deep within, influenced by belief structures taught by parents and instilled also through societal norms. However, this is not the whole picture and does not encapsulate your personal truth of love.
The Bible also provides a definition of love that aligns with my beliefs. In 1 John 4:7-8, it states, "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." This verse invites us to see love as coming from a Divine Source, implying that we are love because we come from God.
To me, this Divine Source is Intelligent Love, a force that created us with the capacity for thought, emotion, and creation. We, as humans, possess intellect, which allows us to think, create, and experience emotions distinct from most other earthly creations. While animals may not experience emotions as we do, they live from intuition and embody what I refer to as Unconditional Love.
The Essence of Unconditional Love
Unconditional Love is a core aspect of the energy or frequency I define as Intelligent Love. It is a powerful force that supports and creates all things, with you and me as the focal points. Unconditional Love is often described as "the act of loving someone without conditions or expectations of repayment," and is also known as compassionate love or agape love. In simpler terms, it is love with no strings attached.
Have you ever experienced the simple joy of coming home to a pet who greets you with unconditional enthusiasm? Whether it's a dog jumping with excitement or a cat gently rubbing against your leg, pets demonstrate Unconditional Love. No questions, no judgements, just pure affection. Animals offer us a glimpse into the purity of love without strings attached, teaching us that love, in its truest form, is boundless and generous. This aligns with the belief that God is love and that love is the foundation of all creation.
Love's Journey: Navigating Life's Ups and Downs
Now that we've explored the essence of love, let's turn our attention to the roller coaster journey we call life. Life’s challenges may prompt us to wonder, “How can life be love when it’s filled with so much heartache?” I’ve shown you how love is life by explaining that we are created by love and, therefore, are love. Now, let's explore how to let this love unfold in your life.
Remember how I mentioned that humans have the unique gift of emotions, which are tied to belief structures we’ve established? These emotions can prevent us from living a joy-filled life and loving our life fully. Understanding who we truly are is crucial in perceiving these emotions and living a life of love.
When the knowing arises that you are love, that you come from love, you begin to create love. We are creators, crafting every aspect of our life in every moment. Our human experiences, especially our emotions, are often shaped by the events of our life. The downs in life are only downs because we label them as such. If you learn to see and understand these downs as opportunities for growth, positive changes can begin to happen. We become what I call magicians of our life, alchemizing each heavy, leaded moment into a golden one. Each challenging moment in life opens up a new and magnificent chance to change your path.
Renowned author Dr. Wayne Dyer once said, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.” This statement holds profound truth. Remembering this statement and using mantras during challenging times can help you change your situation. This simple shift in perspective can reveal new paths forward into a life of love.
One of my personal mantras that has transformed my life is, “Everything always works out for me!” This mantra consistently proves true.
Another powerful mantra is, “Circumstances don’t matter; ONLY my state of being matters.” This mantra is perfect for changing your emotional state in the moment. When faced with circumstances that evoke emotions like anger, frustration, or anxiety, reciting this mantra can bring awareness to your emotional state and offer the opportunity to shift into a more loving state of being.
Embracing the Frequency of Love
How do you stay in this frequency of love and create a life of love? Begin by listening to your physical body. When you are in a state of being that is out of balance with your truth of love, you will feel that something is off. Your body responds to you; you are a co-creator with your physical body, navigating life.
My truth is rooted in loving myself unconditionally, knowing that I come from love. When my body experiences a state of being misaligned with my truth, I recognize it and, through free will, choose to change my state of being.
The key is to have compassion for yourself and choose whether you wish to feel these emotions. Through practice, I have learned to let these emotions, often labeled as negative, flow through me with ease and grace.
Using mantras is just one pathway to a joy-filled life. I also recommend meditation, quiet time, or prayer, all of which serve the same purpose. Quiet time allows you to reflect and get to know yourself. Prayer is a powerful tool that comes from the heart, a universal symbol of love. When you pray from the heart, you speak to love from love, reaffirming your identity as love.
Keeping your body happy with good food and exercise is another way to support your life of love.
Embracing Love as Life
I hope your journey is a joy-filled one and that these words have helped you discover your truth about love and how you can live as love. Embrace this truth and your adventure begins! Let it guide you toward a fulfilling and harmonious existence.
